Pisidia / Psidya
In ancient world, Pisidia is known for its gallant warriors. (Ancient literary texts) The shield-figured reliefs on the sarcophagus, which is unique to this topography, is indicative of this fact.
From the 11th century onwards, Seljuk Turks started to migrate this geographical area. The Battle of Myriokephalon sealed this topography as the eternal land of Turks. Although the people who inhabited this land changed within time, the cultured of heroism and valientness continued to flourish.
IDEBESSOS
Although generally referred to as a Lycian city, Idebessos, located at the foot of the Bey Mountains, the west of the Alakır river valley, is right in between Lycia and Pisidia borders; thus, it has some distinct elements of Pisidian culture, which can be observed in the shield-figured reliefs on the sarcophagi below.
